Centers and Programs
Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas – helps journalists in the hemisphere to develop self-sustaining training programs that will raise the ethical and professional levels of journalism, thereby contributing to the freedom of press and democracy in the hemisphere.
The Documentary Center – produces and distributes socially relevant and/or investigatory non-fiction works for national television, theatrical film markets and book publishing, while providing professional opportunities for UT students and alumni.
Latinos in World War II – This project has created an archive of primary source material to be housed at two University of Texas at Austin libraries, the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection and the Center for American History. That archive includes interviews, mostly videotaped, digitized photographs, photocopies of discharge papers and other documents. To date, more than 500 interviews of Latinos and Latinas have been catalogued.
Caplink – the Journalism School's state capital news service for smaller dailies and the 400-plus weeklies in Texas. It provides hands-on reporting experience for graduate students and also serves to provide news about state government and politics to small newspapers that can't afford to maintain a bureau in the state capital. The project is a collaboration between the School and the Texas Press Association.
