Toni serves as administrative support to the Director in the School of Journalism. She joined the journalism staff in September 2006 after returning to Austin and to UT from a year spent in Phoenix as a Development Associate for a nonprofit biomedical research institute. As assistant to the director she is responsible for the director’s electronic calendar, travel arrangements, correspondence and grant management, planning and executing special events and special guest visits. Toni coordinates the J-sch website and the awarding of scholarships, awards and internships. She also serves as the liaison to the school’s donors and friends, outside media, and internal development and public affairs offices. Toni has over 14 years of prior UT experience in promotion and marketing positions including Promotion and Advertising Manager at UT Press and Marketing Manager at the Bureau of Business Research. She also enjoys teaching Communication Studies courses as an adjunct professor at Austin Community College.

Toni received a B.S. in Secondary Education, with Journalism and Political Science as teaching fields, from The University of Texas at Austin. Toni also holds a Masters in Communication Studies, with a minor in Sociology and a specialization in Minority Issues, from Texas State University.
