Brian Thomas

Brian Thomas teaches journalism and advises The Wire newspaper at Flower Mound High School near Dallas. Thomas just finished his fifth year of teaching and his second at FMHS. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of North Texas paying for his education by working as a bouncer at a local bar and scouting for rare books and selling them on the Internet. Thomas worked as a scholastic journalist when he and several friends published an underground newspaper. Through his little experiment, he received an unwanted education in student press law and the paper disappeared after three issues. Thomas also started a cable-access TV show in 1989 (think Wayne's World) as an excuse to interview bands including Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Green Day. Thomas’ book collection takes up two rooms and part of the garage of the house he shares with his wife and son.
