Susan Gaetz Duarte is an editorial and documentary photographer. Her images have appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers, including National Geographic, Wilderness Travel, Texas Medicine, Body and Soul, Fly Fisherman, The Denver Post and The Dallas Morning News. Other clients include the Ford Foundation, Orvis and the American Medical Association.
She was the press office photographer to former Texas Governor Ann Richards and a stringer for Agence France-Presse wire service. Susan recently published the documentary photography book "The Quiet in the Land: Mennonites in Texas" (Texas A&M University Press, 2006). Her research and images of the Mennonites, as well as her photography archive of Ann Richards, are now part of the permanent photography collection of the Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin.
She received her master's degree in photojournalism from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994.
