My administrative experience as Director of the School of Journalism led me to consider how professional education is subject to its own pressures, producing splits among practitioners and “theorists,” but also to find ways to more constructively integrate conceptual and professional training.
As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs I further indulge my eclectic interests in working with faculty in what we call the “largest and most comprehensive college of communication in the country.” That portfolio includes overseeing international, interdisciplinary, and cross-departmental programs, as well as managing faculty and department evaluation.
