Chenyan Jia is a doctoral student in the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds the Dallas Morning News Graduate Fellowship for Journalism Innovation. Her research interests include digital media use and effects, the role of digital technologies in the era of media transformation, and the evolving structural relationships between media and Internet companies. Her research papers on automated journalism won several awards, including the Top Paper Award from the ICA 2017 International New Media Forum and the Best Research Paper from The Economist (Asia/Pacific).
Chenyan Jia received her M.A. in Journalism from Peking University and her B.A. in Journalism from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She also has a dual degree in English. Chenyan Jia was awarded the National Fellowship by the Ministry of Education of China twice.
