Magdalena Saldaña

Magdalena Saldaña is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Social Research, both from the University of Concepción, Chile. Her research interests include digital media, political communication, and Latin American studies.

She has published articles in the International Journal of Communication, the Journal of Media Ethics, Journalism Practice and Revista de Ciencias Sociales. She has presented her research in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, and the U.S., and her work has been awarded by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR).

She is the current Jesse H. Jones Endowed Centennial Fellowship recipient, one of the most prestigious awards in the Moody College of Communication at UT-Austin. In addition, she has received a number of important awards in recognition for academic achievement and excellence in journalism education.
