Voces Oral History Project to Celebrate 1,000th Interview
The Voces Oral History Project, founded by Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez in 1999, will celebrate its 1,000th interview with a reception June 7 at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin. Philanthropist Teresa Lozano Long is the featured speaker.
The Austin American-Statesman recently wrote a feature about Voces, which documents the contributions of U.S. Latinos and Latinas of the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War generations.
The photo of interviewee Josephine Kelly Ledesma Walker, who served as an airplane mechanic during World War II, was was contributed by Voces.
