Bayliss Flynn is a master’s student in the Journalism and Media, Professional Track. She earned her B.A. in Journalism, with a certificate in Public Relations, from the University of Montana, where she graduated summa cum laude.
Flynn was a reporter on The Obit Project, a narrative podcast produced in collaboration with Radiolab’s Jad Abumrad, which was named one of Apple Podcasts’ “10 Best So Far” of 2026. She has received national recognition for her audio and narrative journalism, including back-to-back honors in the Hearst Journalism Podcast Competition and the Society of Professional Journalists Regional Narrative Podcast Awards.
As Audio Editor of the Montana Kaimin, the University of Montana’s student newspaper, Flynn led podcast production and helped expand the paper’s commitment to long-form audio journalism. A third-generation journalist, her undergraduate and professional reporting has focused on crime, death, and polygamist communities, with an emphasis on deeply reported narrative audio.
Beyond journalism, Flynn is a Division I goalkeeper for the University of Texas Women’s Soccer team. As an undergraduate, she received the University of Montana President’s Award for the highest student-athlete GPA in consecutive years.
