Huong Nguyen
Graduate Student
Doctoral Students
Year 1
Xuan-Huong Nguyen is a doctoral student at the School of Journalism and Media, Moody College of Communication. Her prior degrees are in journalism and public policy.
Before relocating to the United States, she has lived and worked in Singapore, Vietnam and Taiwan as a media rights specialist, a media consultant for nonprofits, and a journalist. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led the coverage in Vietnam for a small independent newsroom—which she often recalls as the most meaningful time in her working years.
Huong has lots of respect for the work of journalists, and lots of concern for how challenging it is for them to hold on to the profession. During the time at Moody, she wants to think deeply about that. Her email is huong.nguyen@utexas.edu.
