Year 3

Soojeong is a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin, studying how media, democracy, and public discourse intersect in Journalism and Media. Her research focuses on two key areas: the impact of social media on political communication and participation, and the intersection of gender, health, and society. She explores how news consumption and misinformation shape political identities and public debates, particularly in terms of polarization and public opinion. Additionally, she examines health communication through a feminist lens, looking at journalism's role in shaping public opinion and policy on health issues. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, her work aims to shed light on how media influences public narratives and policy.

Through her research, Soojeong seeks to contribute to a more informed and equitable society by offering valuable insights into the media's role in shaping public narratives and policy.
