Xinya Jiang is a Ph.D. student in the School of Journalism and Media at UT. Originally from Huaian, China, she earned her B.A. and M.A. from Nanjing University. Her research interests lie in political communication and computational methods. Specifically, her research focuses on: (1) Political communication in the context of USA; (2) Global journalism and politics; (3) Political narratives and social interactions on social media platforms. Methodologically, Xinya is interested in natural language processing and large language models. She is also exploring causal inference techniques now. She is passionate about data storytelling. Xinya has a white Samoyed dog named Laifu. She is a fan of various popular media (e.g., musicals, movies, games).
