Yanran is a master's student in the research track, focusing on user behavior in the digital public sphere. She is particularly interested in how digital media tools change the communication process for common people, especially in public discussions and citizen engagement surrounding important news events and social issues, using mixed methods. She hopes to help more people engage effectively in public discussions in the digital age.
During her undergraduate studies, she participated in research on documentaries supervised by the National Social Science Fund of China, and in research on cross-cultural communication of world heritage supported by the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China. She was also the drafter of a news program analysis report hosted by the China Central Television news center. Additionally, she interned at Caijing Magazine and the American Chamber of Commerce in China, researching and reporting on education policy and energy policy.
In her daily life, Yanran is passionate about movies, photography, and podcasting. She serves as a part-time movie reviewer for Directube (Daotong), a Chinese independent film media outlet. When she goes out, she always wears headphones and carries a camera.
