Students Soar During COVID-19 Hurdles
2019-2020 Reporting Texas Cohort Delivers Quality Journalism During Pandemic
Since the end of March, the Reporting Texas cohort of the Newsroom capstone class published 13 television news packages along with their first online newscast. That's a total of 16 new stories published to the site within two weeks.
Dr. Kate West, Assistant Professor of Practice Reporting Texas Director said, "It was truly a collaborative effort." The students created content for distribution on the Reporting Texas website, Facebook, the Reporting Texas Newsletter, and its YouTube Channel. Not only did students create content, but they produced the show in three days, dealing with major technical issues amidst COVID-19. "It shows our students, despite being thrust into online learning, are capable of so much," said West.
